The Glendronach Distillery, established in 1826 by James Allardice (Allardes) in collaboration with a group of farmers, unfortunately suffered a fire in 1837. Over the years, it changed ownership multiple times, transitioning from government ownership to members of the William Grant family, then to William Teachers & Sons, followed by Pernod Ricard, Benriach, and ultimately, in 2016, it was acquired by U.S. distiller Brown-Forman. At present, the distillery is renowned for its signature style of using ex-Sherry casks. Some expressions undergo 100% Sherry maturation, while others start in ex-Bourbon casks to acquire vanilla sweetness before being transferred to ex-Sherry casks, showcasing the distillery's commitment to creating diverse and high-quality whiskies.
