The Chita Distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery situated at the Port of Nagoya Sun Grain facility in the Chita District of Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1972 and currently owned by Suntory, it stands as the sole major whisky distillery in Japan specialising in grain whisky. Recognised for their outstanding smoothness and balance, Chita grain whiskies have traditionally served as the "dashi" or broth, enhancing the harmony in Suntory's renowned blended whiskies. Over the years, the Chita Distillery's grain whiskies have undergone extensive research and innovation, resulting in an unparalleled sophistication and complexity. Released around September 2018, soon after the Hibiki 17 was discontinued, this is rumoured to/believed to be the "replacement". A harmonious blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita presented in the traditional Hibiki 24 faceted bottle and reportedly aged between 12 and 30 years with an average age of around 15 years.
