Caol Ila Distillery Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson on the east coast of Islay, Caol Ila has been a prominent presence in the whisky landscape. It became part of DCL (now Diageo) in 1927 and operated until 1972 when the original distillery was replaced with a significantly larger capacity, solidifying its status as one of the largest producers on Islay thereafter.
Prior to 2002, Caol Ila was predominantly available through independent bottlings or as a key malt in Johnnie Walker blends. Since then, the distillery has introduced official age statements and other expressions. Typically matured in refill casks, Caol Ila's distinctive character harmoniously blends fresh green fruits, subtle grassiness, and juniper notes, complemented by distinct sea shore characteristics and a gentle layer of smoke.

This Caol Ila Whisky distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2022, is matured in a single cask #4079 and bottled at a Natural Cask Strength of 54.1% ABV. Only 255 bottles were released. Nose: A burst of peat smoke, earthy notes, salty seaweed, dried meat, honey syrup at the back, roasty, and dried plum sweetness at the back. Taste: Dried fruit sweetness with salted cararmel, grassy notes, and peat smoke. Finish: A warming finish with dark chocolate.
