Asaka Distillery Single Malt Japanese Whisky
One of the very few whisky producing distilleries in the Tohoku region, The Asaka Distillery was founded in 2015 by Sasanokawa Shuzo a company with a very long history since 1765 of Sake, Shochu production and Whisky Blending experience under a whisky distilling license which was obtained in 1946.
The Asaka Distillery was established with the goal of making authentic Japanese Single Malt Whisky.

This IPA CASK FINISH Single Malt Whisky from the Asaka Distillery has been primarily aged in first fill bourbon barrels and then finished in Imperial IPA casks from HOPJAPAN, a brewery in Miyakoji-machi located near the Distillery.
Bottled in limited numbers as a Non Chill filtered and in Natural color, this Single Malt Whisky has a nose of citrus peels and cinnamon like spices with a complex palate balanced by the vanilla and honey sweetness of the Bourbon Casks and the freshness that is characteristic of hops with hints of dark chocolate at the back.
Released in Oct 2023, there were only 538 bottles.

Sasanokawa Shuzo Co, the oldest Sake brewer in the Tohoku region of Japan, obtained its license to produce whisky in 1946, after World War II. Their own distillation has also gone through turbulent times in sync with the Japanese whisky market's boom and bust cycles with bulk spirit imports replacing their own production through these times. They are also the distillery, which famously gave warehouse/storage space to Ichiro Akuto san for his Hanyu casks when they were about to be discarded by the new owners of Toa Shuzo. The first bottling of the Hanyu Card series in 2005 was also completed at Sasanokawa Shuzo itself.
Sasanokawa Shuzo established the Asaka Distillery in 2015, which started distillation in 2016 at the same site to produce Japanese Single Malt Whisky.
