Dalmore Distillery, situated in Alness, Scotland, approximately 20 miles north of Inverness, rests on the banks of the Cromarty Firth with a picturesque view of the Black Isle, named after the 'big meadowland' that graces its surroundings.
Dalmore whiskies are known for their rich, densely fruity sweetness, complemented by a malty cereal background. Maturation primarily occurs in ex-Sherry casks, contributing to the distinctive character.
The distillery's history intertwines with a tale of bravery in 1263 when Colin of Kintail, Chief of the Mackenzie Clan, shielded King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging stag. In gratitude, the Mackenzie Clan received the "12-pointed Royal Stag emblem" from the King. When the Mackenzie Clan assumed ownership of The Dalmore distillery in 1867, they continued to honor this courageous act, proudly adorning the bottle with the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem.
