Ardbeg Distillery Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Ardbeg Distillery, situated on the south coast of Islay and established by the McDougall family in 1815, experienced two silent periods, first from 1981 to 1989 and later from 1996 to 1997. Fortunately, in 1997, Glenmorangie PLC acquired Ardbeg, rescuing it from its challenges. However, in 2004, both Ardbeg and Glenmorangie became part of the French fashion label and drinks group - Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH). Notably, in February 2018, Ardbeg underwent an expansion, doubling its production capacity. While the majority of Ardbeg's core expressions are non-aged, the distillery occasionally releases aged bottlings, showcasing their commitment to both tradition and innovation.

A 2002 Vintage Single Malt Whisky from Ardbeg matured in American Oak Casks and released for Feis Ile 2014. About 66,600 bottles were released. The name Auriverdes captures the imagery of the gold (auri) and green livery of Ardbeg's bottlings (verde) apart from being the colours of the Brazilian flag, home of the 2014 World Cup (Soccer). A limited edition Ardbeg released during the 2013 Fèis Ìle whisky festival. Aged in a combination of bourbon as well as some Manzanilla sherry casks, this is reportedly a vatting of 10 Year aged whisky and was produced for the 'Ardbeg Day', celebrated around the world on 1st June 2013. About 13,000 bottles were released at an impressive ABV of 52.1%.

A discontinued bottling and much difficult to find, this is one of the few Ardbegs with an age statement. The first bottling of the 17 years old marked the revival of Ardbeg's legacy after the new owners Glenmorangie took over in 1997 but was sadly discontinued thereafter.
Gentle peat bringing though a mix of malt and vanillins on the nose. Peat is more present on the palate with a chewy middle and touch of cocoa. Finishes with a hint of liquorice and dry toast and continues for some time.
Please note the slight creases on the box given that this is an older release. Sold in "as is" condition.
